How to prepare
Hi...Actually I am writing this as the result of a recent vacation I took myself. I realized that if you don't prepare properly for vacation it is very hard to relax when you are on one. You end up spending much of your time worrying about what was left behind.
Here is my list of recommendations:
| Appoint someone you trust to check on your home while you will be away | |
| If you traveling with your Laptop, you should BACK UP key files first. Anything can happen while you are moving you laptop from one place to another. | |
| Arrange to have you mail and paper picked up daily | |
| Set one or two lights on timers that go on in the evening and stay on into the night | |
| Leave a trusted neighbor your contact information | |
| Let you Alarm service provider know your contact information | |
| Pay your bills current before you leave | |
| Board pets with a friend / trusted kennel | |
| Confirm ALL travel plans to ensure no last minute stress | |
| Change your Voice mail /Email at work to let people know you are on vacation | |
| Take care of last minute chores that will nag at you while you are away. This may include hiring someone to do chores like lawn care while you are away | |
| Bring you insurance cards and ensure you understand how you medical policy work while you are away from you home doctors. Remember, many Insurance Plans require ADVANCE notice before you go to a "Out of Plan" doctor and WILL NOT cover you unless you call first | |
| Lastly, bring something to do with you that
you enjoy, it usually takes about 2-4 days to settle in to relaxing
mode. Some people never make the adjustment to relaxing. We
found that having something that you enjoy close by helps to ease the
transition. |
